“ We had brunch there last Sunday before antiquing in the neighborhood. My first time, and it was a surprise... a hip diner. My friend ordered the brie quiche and I had gumbo (not usually on the menu). Both were yummy. The specialty here are the baked goods ("made lovingly in house"). Because it was a Sunday, the bakery selection was sparse. We settled on the chocolate coconut cake with ginger, and it did not disappoint. They seemed to be serving a lot of smash burgers with hand cut fries, and that's what I'll order next time. The atmosphere is small and crowded, so not a place to linger over coffee (which was great). Parking on the street, which is free on Sunday. Closed on Monday and Tuesday. Looking forward to my return. ”
“ On a blisteringly cold morning, we scrambled across Clark Street to see what Sauce & Bread had in store. And we were not disappointed. All kinds of baked goods screaming out. My favorite was the Raspberry Rugulach, a tight, yeasty knot with a bright fruity center, and we also got a deep slice of the Banana Chocolate Cake and a Blueberry Ginger Scone. Plenty of calories to ward off the cold! If you're looking for a local place for morning goodies, stop by Sauce & Bread! ”
“ Hubby found this for his birthday breakfast spot. It was good and quick. They had a special focaccia that he added one fried egg to. Found it to be soft and tasty. He said he'd definitely get it again. I went with the Bodega breakfast sandwich minus the gogo spread because as you know, I am a wimp when it comes to spice and heat. I enjoyed it a lot but only ate half because it was filling. While we ordered at the counter and were overwhelmed with choice, both items came out quickly. Good amount of pastries- I'll try to remember to report back later. Okay amount of seating. Very clean. Very colorful/cozily decorated. Staff was super friendly and patient as we were newbies. Would definitely come her again. ”
“ Great vibe and space for coffees and breakfast. The focaccia with egg and brisket is outstanding. Muffins, egg sandwiches and scones top notch. Nice variety of honey, jams and preserves. Best bakery bread I've ever had in CHI and miss it at LP Green City Market. Try the jalapeño cheddar or sunflower (vegan). ”
“ A fine bakery, a restaurant with delicious local food and a neighborhood gathering place. It's like a bistro in Paris. Go there and enjoy Chicago at it's best. PS: It's the "Bear" become real. ”
“ Always great food and atmosphere at S&B. The trout master sandwich is a slam dunk for anyone looking for nice sandwich. Great flavor and the capers were a welcomed addition. ”
“ SBK has incredible ingredients put together in a unique way that makes me feel like I'm eating designer food. Yesterday, we had the fried chicken sandwich and the troutmaster and split the cabbage salad for lunch. I didn't eat breakfast or dinner because the environment was soul comforting and I had the chance to have good conversation and laughs. Terrific Dark Matter Coffee too. ”
“ Sauce and Bread Kitchen has been my favorite brunch/lunch spot for a year. There is outdoor and indoor seating, and the inside is thoughtfully decorated with art and bright tables. They have a lot of options - bagel sandwiches, quiche of the day, and omelettes for brunch and sandwiches and burgers for lunch. I love that they have baskets of their hot sauces out on the table so you can try all of them -- they are also amazing. Even when there is a line to order at the counter, it goes by quickly. Their baked goods are also great and they have a rotating selection everyday. Keep an eye out for their Saturday dinner parties as well! ”
“ Favorite brunch spot in the neighborhood, especially if you're looking for something different from the usual diner fare. Insanely good pastries with unique flavorings - pistachio/raspberry chocolate croissant was to die for recently. Bread is all homemade and the base of delicious sandwiches and toasts. Full bar with breakfast and all-day cocktails, too! We love sitting outside or at the bar and chatting with the lovely staff. ”
“ Food is made fresh! Loved the lox and avocado toast. The fries were suuuuper oily and burnt, not my favorite. The smash burger was decent, very flavorful and not that beefy. Service is laid back and kind. Ambiance is casual and relaxed. Right off of Clark and Devon, this is a great place to grab a good brunch and cafe. I'll come again for sure! ”
